The Nigeria Customs Service has reaffirmed its commitment to deepening inter-agency collaboration with the Headquarters Joint Task Force, Operation HADIN KAI (OPHK), to bolster border security management in Borno and Yobe states.
The statement, issued on Thursday by Lieutenant Colonel Sani Uba, Media Information Officer of OPHK, detailed a courtesy visit to the task force headquarters by the Customs Area Controller for Borno and Yobe, Controller Abdullahi Idris.
During the visit, Idris emphasized that the purpose was to “strengthen synergy and consolidate the existing cordial relationship between the Armed Forces of Nigeria and the Nigeria Customs Service.” He highlighted ongoing efforts by the Service to enhance border monitoring and response capabilities, including the deployment of Geo-Partial Surveillance Technology across Nigeria’s land and sea borders.
The Area Controller explained that the visit also sought “the guidance and support of OPHK as a key security stakeholder in the North-East region, particularly in Borno and Yobe States,” stressing the importance of coordinated operations to secure the borders against illicit activities.
Idris further acknowledged the critical role of the Nigerian Army in establishing the Nigerian Customs Service Staff College and supporting capacity-building initiatives for Customs personnel, describing the collaboration as vital for operational efficiency and regional security.
The engagement underscores the shared commitment of the Nigeria Customs Service and the Armed Forces to strengthen intelligence sharing, operational coordination, and strategic partnerships in the fight against cross-border crimes and insecurity in the North-East.
