Nigeria claimed gold in both the men’s and women’s team events at the 2025 ITTF Africa West Regional Championships in Lagos today. The men’s team, led by Matthew Kuti, Taiwo Mati, and Abdulbasit Abdulfatai, delivered a flawless performance, dropping just one set all tournament, to defeat Côte d’Ivoire 3-0 in the final at Molade Okoya‑Thomas Hall in Teslim Balogun Stadium.
On the women’s side, captain Ajoke Ojomu guided her squad to dominant victories over Benin, Ghana, and Guinea, securing the title and reinforcing Nigeria’s supremacy in regional table tennis. Both gold medals secure qualification for the upcoming African Championships in Kigali, Rwanda.
