In a classical demonstration of the axiom ‘teaching to fish instead of simply giving fish’, a Non-Governmental Organization (NGO) Toyin Amuzu Foundation, has empowered 100 small scale entrepreneurs in Abeokuta South LG with the registration of their business names with the Corporate Affairs Commission (CAC).
Addressing the entrepreneurs selected from across the 20 local government areas, on Thursday – today, February 6 – in Abeokuta, the Ogun State capital, the promoter of the Foundation, Toyin Amuzu, explained that the gesture was to support small and medium scale enterprises in Abeokuta South LG.
According to him, it was also aimed at creating an enabling environment for businesses to grow, thereby stabilizing the nation’s economy.
Amuzu who is a renowned estate developer and chieftain of the Peoples Democratic Party (PDP), said the registration of the businesses is also aimed at supporting various individuals, empowering them, and improving economic activities within the local government area and beyond.
He maintained that the Foundation’s initiative is expected to have a positive impact on the local economy, create jobs and increase economic opportunities for the residents of the local government area.
“This is a non-governmental, non-political scheme of the Toyin Amuzu Foundation, aimed at improving the lives of our people in Egbaland.
“The Toyin Amuzu Foundation has been involved in various philanthropic activities, including the provision of free interest loans to support small and medium scale entrepreneurs, donation of water projects to communities, and empowerment programmes for youths and women.
“The Foundation, no doubt, has been at the forefront of promoting entrepreneurship and economic development in Ogun state. Our efforts have been recognized and commended by various stakeholders.
“With this latest initiative, TAF is taking its commitment to economic development to the next level, providing a platform for entrepreneurs to formalize their businesses and access opportunities for growth and expansion,” he disclosed.
“We won’t also stop there as we would provide Point of Sales Machines for the 100 people within the Abeokuta South Local Government Area.”
