The Local Organising Committee (LOC) of the Nigerian-German Investment and Cultural Expo (NGICE 2026) in Berlin and the Office of the Secretary to the Government of the Federation (OSGF) are working assiduously to fine tune the expo preparations.
Amb. Chielo Ojirika, the Coordinator of NGICE 2026 and Nigerian Cultural Ambassador to Germany, said this when he led a delegation to pay an update visit to Dr Warrens Bekearedebo Augusta, Permanent Secretary, Political and Economic Affairs, OSGF, in Abuja.
Ojirika said the visit was to brief the permanent secretary on the preparations and new development on the expo.
“This is in continuation of visits we have made to the OSGF officials by the NGICE members, led by its Chairman, Sir Mike Okiro, a retired inspector general of police.
“The NGICE team had earlier visited the Secretary to the Government of the Federation (SGF), Sen. George Akume, the former Minister of Foreign Affairs, Amb. Yusuf Maitama Tuggar, as well as the current Minister, Amb. Bianca Odumegwu Ojukwu, the German Ambassador to Nigeria, Amb. Annette Gunter and other top officials.
“Recently, NGICE signed an Memorandum of Understanding with Catholic Television of Nigeria (CTV) to promote Nigerian-German investment, cultural activities to the global community.”
Ojirika, who is also known as Chiboy D’Black Courage, said the visit became necessary as the SGF would lead the NGICE delegation to showcase Nigeria’s investment opportunities and cultural heritage in Berlin.
According to him, the expo is to showcase Nigeria’s investment potentials in oil and gas and solid mineral and encourage foreign investors to come and invest.
He added that “the expo would also further expose our music and movie to the world. That is what we aim to achieve with the expose.
“NGICE 2026 is being designed as a strategic platform to attract foreign direct investment and promote the country’s diverse cultural and business opportunities.
“It also aims to bring the world to Berlin for Nigeria. We are presenting Nigeria as an investor’s paradise, a country full of untapped opportunities in trade, agriculture, fashion, technology, and culture.”
Ojirika explained that the expo would feature exhibitions, investment showcases, business forums, and roundtable sessions involving investors, financial institutions, CEOs, and public-private sector leaders.
According to him, other activities will include cultural displays, global peace concert, gala night/awards, networking sessions, and guided visits to relevant companies and institutions in Germany.
“We are not just promoting investment. We are also showcasing Nigeria’s soft power—our culture, our people, and our potential,” he added.
