The Catholic Bishop of Enugu Diocese, Most Rev. Callistus Onaga, has urged Nigerians to work harder and learn new skills in the new year.
The bishop made the call in a sermon at the crossover church service at the Holy Ghost Cathedral in Enugu on Thursday.
According to the cleric, in this new year, I encourage people to learn new skills that will improve your lives.
“There is a need to enter the new year with a clear description of what you want to achieve. Personal efforts are important but focus on God, work harder and do your best in 2026,” he said.
Reviewing the past year, Onaga said, “The year 2025 was not totally bad. Prices of commodities which were high in 2024 came down towards the end of last year.
“In terms of security, there was slight improvement and God’s intervention saved us a lot towards the end of the year. We must thank God for all He did for us in 2025,”.
While calling for a change of attitude for a better society, the bishop prayed for abundance in every aspect, not just financial breakthroughs, but abundance in relationships, in health, opportunities and peace of mind.
He also urged the people to get their voter’s card as the elections were fast approaching, urging them not to be discouraged by what happened in the past.
