The Nigeria Police Force on Monday witnessed the decoration of newly promoted Deputy Inspectors-General of Police, as the Inspector-General of Police, Olatunji Disu, urged the officers to demonstrate discipline, integrity and professionalism in the discharge of their duties. Speaking during the decoration ceremony held at the Force Headquarters in Abuja, the police chief said the promotion to the rank of Deputy Inspector-General of Police was not merely a change of insignia but a recognition of years of dedication and service within the force.
Disu noted that the new rank also comes with increased responsibility, particularly in providing leadership and strengthening operational efficiency across the police organisation. According to him, the position of Deputy Inspector-General represents one of the highest levels of professional trust within the force and requires wisdom, courage and an unwavering commitment to justice. He emphasised that the newly decorated officers must serve as role models to junior personnel and uphold the core values of the Nigeria Police Force at all times. The Inspector-General also urged the senior officers to work collaboratively with other security agencies and stakeholders in addressing security challenges across the country.
He stressed that professionalism, discipline and accountability must remain the guiding principles in their leadership roles, adding that the public expects the police leadership to inspire confidence through transparent and effective service. The ceremony, attended by senior police officers and other dignitaries, marked another step in the ongoing efforts to strengthen the leadership structure of the Nigeria Police Force.
