The Nasarawa State Government has officially welcomed its exclusion from the latest security travel advisory published by the United Kingdom Government, characterizing the decision as a clear validation of its sustained peace-building and security measures.

The updated advisory, issued by the UK Foreign, Commonwealth and Development Office (FCDO) on Thursday, August 20, 2026, and confirmed as active as of Friday, August 21, 2026, advised British nationals against all but essential travel to several states across the North-Central region, including Niger, Kogi, Plateau, Taraba, Kwara, and Benue. Nasarawa State stood out as the sole entity in the zone exempted from the restricted travel caution.

Reacting to the development through an official press statement issued on Friday afternoon from the Government House in Lafia, the Chief Press Secretary to the Governor, Mr. Ibrahim Addra, stated that the state received the update “with humility and gratitude to Almighty God”.

”While we desire that such advisories in Nigeria become unnecessary sooner than later, the government receives this development as an encouraging reflection of the collective efforts to promote peace and security in our state,” Addra said.

The state administration attributed the favorable assessment to the strategic leadership of Governor Abdullahi A. Sule, noting that deliberate investments in security infrastructure, logistics support for federal security agencies, and direct engagement with traditional rulers and local community stakeholders have yielded tangible results.

The statement also acknowledged the overarching security support of the Federal Government under President Bola Ahmed Tinubu and the sacrifices of frontline security personnel operating within the region.

Despite the recognition from the British government, the Nasarawa State Government emphasized that it would not become complacent.

Addra reiterated that state officials remain fully conscious of ongoing security demands and will continue to refine intelligence gathering, bolster community policing networks, and maintain operational vigilance to safeguard residents, visitors, and ongoing economic investments across the state.
