The Chief of Air Staff (CAS), Air Marshal Sunday Aneke, has issued a stern warning to all personnel of the Nigerian Air Force (NAF) against acts of indiscipline that threaten the country’s democratic order.
Aneke made the warning yesterday during a meeting with Branch Chiefs, Air Officers Commanding, and Unit Commanders at the NAF headquarters in Abuja.

“The Nigerian Air Force remains loyal to the democratically-elected government. We will not tolerate indiscipline or unlawful conduct within our ranks,” he said, emphasizing the service’s commitment to upholding Nigeria’s democratic institutions.

The warning comes in the wake of an attempted coup in January, which the Defence Headquarters (DHQ) confirmed was orchestrated by a group of officers targeting President Bola Ahmed Tinubu’s administration. Investigations have implicated 16 officers, who are now scheduled to face court-martial.
In a statement posted on its official X handle, Aneke condemned any actions aimed at undermining democratic governance and reiterated that the leadership of the Air Force would strictly enforce discipline among its personnel.

Observers say the CAS’s warning underscores the military’s resolve to maintain professionalism and loyalty to civilian authority amid lingering security and political challenges in the country.
