As part of its 61st Anniversary celebrations, the Nigerian Air Force (NAF) has announced a nationwide Open Day event with the theme “Come See Your Air Force.”
The initiative invites members of the public to visit Air Force bases across the country between May 1 and May 15, 2025.
Designed to strengthen civil-military relations, the Open Day aims to provide Nigerians with a rare opportunity to experience the operations of the Air Force up close.
According to the Director of Public Relations and Information, Air Commodore Edward Ehimen Ejodame, participating bases include those in Makurdi, Bauchi, Yenagoa, Kaduna, Enugu, Ikeja, Katsina, Maiduguri, Port Harcourt, Osogbo, Minna, the FCT, Victoria Island, Yola, Benin, Kainji, Kano, and Jos.
Each participating base will announce its specific Open Day schedule locally.
Activities will feature guided tours of facilities, aircraft displays, historical exhibitions, interactive sessions with Air Force personnel, documentary screenings, engaging video displays, souvenir giveaways, and outreach programs in schools, including career talks to inspire the younger generation.
These events form part of the broader anniversary celebrations, which will officially take place from May 13 to 20, 2025.
Speaking on the importance of the initiative, the Chief of the Air Staff, Air Marshal Hassan Abubakar, emphasized the need to build trust and unity through public engagement.
He described the Open Day as a testament to the Air Force’s commitment to transparency, national unity, and pride in service.
Air Marshal Abubakar encouraged all Nigerians to participate, saying, “This is your Air Force—come, see it, and connect with it.” He reaffirmed the NAF’s dedication to building bridges with the citizens it serves through openness, education, and inspiration.
