The Chairman of Bassa Local Government Area, Dr. Joshua Sunday Riti, has declared that Plateau State Governor Caleb Mutfwang’s political realignment to the All Progressives Congress (APC) is already delivering tangible developmental gains for the state.
Speaking at a press conference held at the Bassa Local Government Secretariat headquarters in Jebbu Bassa on Tuesday, October 6, 2026, Dr. Riti emphasized that the governor’s strategic alignment with the ruling party at the center has significantly bridged the gap between the state and federal governments.
Dr. Riti stated that Governor Mutfwang’s move from the opposition Peoples Democratic Party (PDP) to the APC, announced late last year, was a deliberate step aimed at ensuring Plateau State benefits fully from national infrastructure projects, economic interventions, and key security synergies.
”The defection of His Excellency, Governor Caleb Mutfwang, to the All Progressives Congress was not merely a political calculation; it was a visionary decision tailored toward the progress of Plateau State,” Dr. Riti said. “We are already seeing the dividends of this step through enhanced federal presence, prioritized infrastructure approvals, and renewed momentum in addressing critical security concerns across local government areas, including Bassa.”
Addressing journalists and political stakeholders during the briefing, the council chairman called on residents and political figures across the state to support the governor’s administration.
