The police on Thursday arraigned a 42-year-old man, Olawale Bashiru, before an Ikeja Magistrates’ Court for allegedly stealing a Ford Explorer valued at N15 million and belonging to Olatunji Afolabi.

Bashiru was arraigned before Magistrate Lateef Owolabi on a two-count charge of conspiracy and stealing. He, however, pleaded not guilty to the charges when they were read to him in court.

The prosecutor, Mrs Josephine Ikhayere, told the court that Bashiru allegedly conspired with another person, who is still at large, to commit the offences sometime in August in Lagos. She further alleged that the defendant stole Afolabi’s Ford Explorer, valued at N15 million.

Ikhayere said the alleged offences contravened Sections 328(1)(2)(a)(b) and 411 of the Criminal Law of Lagos State, 2015. The prosecutor urged the court to consider the allegations in determining the case against the defendant.

Magistrate Owolabi granted Bashiru bail in the sum of N700,000, with two sureties in like sum. He adjourned the case until Nov. 26 for further proceedings.
