Man, 49, Arraigned Over Alleged Theft of N2.2 Million Church Property

A 49 year old man, Bode Olayiwola, was arraigned before an Iyaganku Magistrates’ Court in Ibadan on Friday, July 17, over the alleged theft of church property valued at N2.2 million.
Olayiwola is facing a one-count charge of theft. He pleaded not guilty to the charge. The prosecutor, Insp. Samuel Owolabi, told the court that the defendant allegedly committed the offence at about 2:00 a.m. on July 15 at the Church of the Lord, Oke-Ado, Ibadan.
Owolabi alleged that Olayiwola stole a generator, fans, an amplifier, car batteries and other items belonging to the church, all valued at N2.2 million.
According to the prosecutor, the offence contravenes Section 390(9) of the Criminal Laws of Oyo State, 2000. Magistrate Gladys Olanrewaju granted the defendant bail in the sum of N1 million with two sureties in like sum. The case was adjourned until Oct. 7 for hearing.
