Male Integrated Science Nigeria Limited has reaffirmed its position in Nigeria’s renewable-powered water engineering sector with the installation of a high-output two-horsepower solar-powered pump system under its flagship “Retrofit by Male Integrated” initiative.
The firm said the latest project highlights its growing footprint in sustainable hydrogeological solutions, as it continues to integrate renewable energy systems into water infrastructure serving communities and institutions across the country.
Chief Executive Officer of the company, Engr. Dr. Michael Ale, expressed satisfaction with the progress recorded under the Retrofit initiative, describing it as a transformative model for modern borehole operations.
“Retrofit by MALE is advancing. This is a recently completed installation of a two-horsepower pump that requires six panels for optimal performance,” he said.
Ale explained that the 2HP pump operates at approximately 1,500 watts and is powered by six solar panels rated at an average of 350 watts each. According to him, the configuration produces nearly 2,000 watts of energy, thereby creating a sufficient power buffer above the pump’s operational demand.
He noted that the power surplus enhances system stability, improves efficiency, and reduces the risk of performance drops during periods of fluctuating sunlight. The setup, he added, ensures consistent water supply while cutting dependence on fossil fuel-powered generators and lowering long-term operational costs.
The CEO further stated that the “Retrofit by Male Integrated” initiative is designed to upgrade existing borehole systems by replacing outdated or energy-intensive components with renewable-powered alternatives.
Industry observers say the growing adoption of solar-powered water systems reflects increasing awareness of sustainable energy solutions amid rising electricity costs and the need for climate-resilient infrastructure.
