Oyo State Governor Seyi Makinde has gifted veteran gospel singer and broadcaster Dr. Yinka Ayefele a brand-new 2025 SUV following a devastating fire that razed parts of Fresh FM’s headquarters in Ibadan on Friday, August 15, 2025.
The gesture, occurred on Tuesday, August 19, during a visit by state officials, including Commissioner for Local Government and Chieftaincy Matters Hon. Ademola Ojo, who presented the vehicle on Makinde’s behalf.
The fire, which destroyed critical facilities like the newsroom, transmitter, and studios of Fresh FM 105.9 and Blast FM 98.3, prompted widespread sympathy, with Makinde praising Ayefele’s resilience and contributions to Oyo State’s media and entertainment landscape.
Ayefele, visibly moved, expressed gratitude for the governor’s support, describing the SUV as an unexpected morale booster. “I am deeply touched by Governor Makinde’s kindness and the overwhelming support from the people of Oyo State,” he said, as reported by NigerianEye.
The vehicle is intended to aid Ayefele’s mobility as he works to rebuild the station, which remains a vital platform for information and entertainment in the region. The cause of the fire remains under investigation, with preliminary reports suggesting a possible electrical fault.
