The Nigerian Army has carried out a major redeployment of senior officers across different commands and formations in the country.

The change was approved by the Chief of Army Staff, Lieutenant General Waidi Shaibu, and covers operational units, training institutions, headquarters appointments, and staff positions.

According to the Army, Major General WM Dangana has been appointed as the new General Officer Commanding of the 3 Division and also placed in charge of Joint Task Force Operation Enduring Peace. He takes over from Major General EF Oyinlola.

Major General EI Okoro has also been posted as the General Officer Commanding of the 6 Division and will serve as Land Component Commander of Operation Delta Safe in the South-South. He replaces Major General EE Emeka.

At the Army Headquarters, Major General JR Lar has been named Commander of the Garrison, while Brigadier General OM Oyekola will act as Military Secretary (Army). Brigadier General I Waziri remains Chief of Staff in the office of the Chief of Army Staff.

Other appointments include Brigadier General IB Buhari as Commander of 63 Brigade and Brigadier General K Rabiu as Commander of 31 Artillery Brigade. Major General SA Emmanuel will now lead the Nigerian Army Space Command, a role tied to modern security and technology-driven operations.

 

Major General O Adegbe has been moved to Defence Headquarters as Director of Intelligence and Security.

In military schools and training centres, Major General KE Chigbu becomes Deputy Commandant of the National Defence College, while Major General SD Makolo is now Commandant of the Nigerian Army Armour School. Major General SO Adejimi will lead the School of Supply and Transport, and Major General FS Etim becomes Chief of Training at the Army’s Training and Doctrine Command. Brigadier General U Ahmad has been posted as Commandant of Depot Nigerian Army in Zaria.

For defence-linked companies, Major General KO Ukandu will head Post Housing Development Limited, while Major General AI Allison takes charge as Managing Director of Defence Properties Limited.

The Army said the new postings are aimed at improving leadership capacity and readiness across all levels, while officers have been urged to carry out their duties with discipline and commitment to national service.
