It was launched on Sunday 15/2/2026, and is a fast, mobile-first social media platform App, officially live on the App Store, Google Play, and the web, including as a progressive Web App (PWA).
Founded by Nduka Obaigbena, the LekeeLekee platform is developed by ARISE Broadcast and THIS DAY Media Group. LekeeLekee is designed to meet the realities of underserved networks and communities, offering low-data, high-speed feeds, video, messaging with voice notes and built-in moderation.
LekeeLekee was created to provide an alternative to global social media such as Til Tok, X(former Twitter), and Whatsapp, and is tailored for Africa and its diaspora. As the first global social media platform built out of Africa, it aims to empower African voices, and celebrate African culture globally.
What is ”Lekeelekee”?
LekeeLekee (or Leke Leke) is a Yoruba traditional folklore name for the Cattle egret (white bird). In Yoruba culture like in many other Nigerian culture, “Leke Leke” is often associated with good fortune and purity.
Leke Leke is commonly featured in traditional songs, often referenced by children who believe the bird can bring white patches on their fingers.
