The Lagos Waste Management Authority (LAWMA) has commenced the sealing of non-compliant shops and plazas along the Tejuosho-Ojuelegba corridor for violating waste management regulations.

The Managing Director of LAWMA, Mr Muyiwa Gbadegesin, said the enforcement followed the expiration of compliance notices earlier issued to the affected premises. The News Agency of Nigeria (NAN) reports that Gbadegesin disclosed this on his X handle on Thursday.

He said the operation was carried out by LAWMA’s Waste Investigation, Surveillance and Enforcement team, targeting premises that failed to comply with waste management regulations and continued the indiscriminate disposal of waste on public roads despite receiving compliance notices.

Gbadegesin said maintaining a clean Lagos required compliance with environmental laws rather than convenience. He added that the authority would continue to enforce environmental regulations to protect public health, keep roads clean and hold offenders accountable.
