Gov. Dauda Lawal of Zamfara has distributed brand-new official vehicles to higher institutions and other public education bodies across the state as part of efforts to strengthen administration and improve service delivery in the education sector. The governor said the vehicles were intended to support the institutions in carrying out their official responsibilities more effectively.
The beneficiaries include the Federal University Gusau, Zamfara State University, Talata Mafara, and Abdu Gusau Polytechnic, Talata Mafara. Other institutions and bodies that received vehicles include the College of Nursing and Midwifery, Gusau, Teachers Service Board, Senior Secondary School Board, Quality Assurance, Zamfara State College of Arts and Science (ZACAS), and other state government public institutions.
Lawal said the vehicles would serve as institutional assets and operational tools for administration, supervision, accreditation exercises, official engagements and other legitimate duties. He explained that providing reliable transportation would improve the productivity of public office holders and enable them to deliver services more efficiently.
The governor stressed that the vehicles were not personal entitlements for heads of the benefiting institutions or any other office holders, but remained the property of the Zamfara State Government. He directed the institutions to ensure proper custody, deployment, maintenance and documentation of the vehicles, warning that heads of the institutions would be held accountable for misuse, unauthorised use or unnecessary deterioration of the assets.
Lawal reaffirmed his administration’s commitment to providing infrastructure, equipment and institutional support to improve higher education in Zamfara. He urged the benefiting institutions to demonstrate responsible leadership and prudent management while ensuring that the vehicles were used to serve the institutions, students and residents of the state rather than individual interests.
