The Vice-Chancellor (VC), Lagos State University (LASU), Prof. Ibiyemi Olatunji-Bello, has congratulated Prof. Kazeem Oshikoya on his appointment as pioneer VC of the Federal University of Science and Technology(FUST) in Epe, Lagos.
Olatunji-Bello made this known in a statement issued in the university’s social media platform.
She described Oshikoya’s appointment as well deserved, noting that it reflected his distinguished academic career, administrative experience and dedication.
She said that Oshikoya is a Professor of Child Health and Paediatric Clinical Pharmacology at the Lagos State University College of Medicine (LASUCOM), Ikeja.
She added that he had previously served as Acting Head of the Department of Pharmacology, Therapeutics and Toxicology at the college.
“Until his appointment, he was also a member of the LASUCOM Bulletin Editorial Committee,”she said.
The vice-chancellor expressed confidence that the newly established university would benefit immensely from Oshikoya’s wealth of experience and leadership capacity.
She added that his appointment would further strengthen the institution’s vision of becoming a centre of excellence in science and technology education.
Olatunji-Bello wished him success in his new role and prayed for wisdom, strength and grace for him as he leads the university to greater heights.
The Oshikoya was inaugurated alongside other members of the management of the new university on March 11 in Abuja by the Minister of Education, Dr Maruf Alausa.
