​The Lagos State Environmental Protection Agency (LASEPA) has sealed Wise FM and two other business establishments for persistent violations of environmental regulations. The enforcement action on Tuesday follows repeated warnings, formal abatement notices, and multiple opportunities provided by the state government for the affected entities to comply with environmental laws.
​According to LASEPA officials, the closures became necessary after the establishments consistently failed to adhere to guidelines regarding pollution and community disturbance.
Wise FM, a local radio broadcaster, along with two other commercial establishments whose compliance records fell short of state standards. Persistent non-compliance with environmental regulations, including noise and general environmental infractions.
The agency emphasized that the drastic measure was a last resort after the businesses ignored several official warnings and grace periods meant to facilitate compliance.
​LASEPA reiterated its commitment to maintaining a clean, safe, and sustainable environment for Lagos residents, warning that it will continue to clamp down on recalcitrant organizations that prioritize profit over public health and environmental laws. The sealed premises will remain shut until compliance terms are fully met and cleared by the agency.
