Says, like Buhari, Tinubu prioritizing propaganda over reality
Former Governor of Jigawa, Alhaji Sule Lamido has accused President Bola Ahmed Tinubu of lying to Nigerians about the actual state of the Nigerian union and the challenges his administration is dealing with and how it is dealing with them.
According to a Naija News report, Lamido, a chieftain of the People’s Democratic Party (PDP), who spoke on the BBC Hausa service programme ‘Gane Mini Hanya’, faulted President Tinubu’s loan requests, insisting that that what the president and his government are telling Nigerians is different from what they are doing.
Referring to last year’s budget, he said: “If Nigerians are being told the truth then there is nothing wrong with that. But how would you budget N30tn, generate N50tn and then request a loan when you have a surplus of N20tn?”
“This recklessness and clear-cut selfishness is not done anywhere in the world, but yet you find (some) Nigerians supporting it. Visit social media and see how APC is being criticised, being referred to as calamity, yet you find some protecting it.”
Lamido accused former President Muhammadu Buhari of also being less than honest and transparent to Nigerians while he presided as president, saying the former president, as is also the case with his successor Tinubu, prioritised propaganda over reality, persistently loathe to tell Nigerians the actual state of the nation, unlike during the PDP administration.
“Buhari’s and Tinubu’s governments are not being transparent with Nigerians unlike during the time when PDP was in power where everything was transparent and open to all Nigerians,” the one-time Minister of Foreign Affairs, stressed.
“But with the coming of Buhari, deception and propaganda became tools for running the government.”
