Lagos State Government has taken a bold step to reward excellence in public service, recognising 177 outstanding civil servants with a combination of cash prizes and brand new vehicles.
According to a statement released on Tuesday by the Special Adviser to the Governor on Media and Publicity, Gboyega Akosile, the initiative is aimed at promoting dedication, hard work, and consistency in service delivery across the state’s public sector.
As part of the recognition, five civil servants received brand new cars, while a total of N165.5 million was shared among the 177 awardees.
The scheme reflects the government’s commitment to incentivising performance and motivating public officials to maintain high standards in their roles.
Governor Babajide Sanwo-Olu, through the gesture, reiterated the importance of rewarding merit and acknowledged the critical role of diligent public servants in ensuring effective governance.
“The Lagos State Government believes in recognising and celebrating those who go above and beyond in serving the people,” Akosile stated. “This is part of our broader effort to create a culture of excellence in the public service.”
Recipients of the awards expressed gratitude, promising to continue delivering quality services to the citizens of Lagos State.
The programme is expected to inspire other civil servants to strive for excellence and innovate in their respective fields.
