The Lagos State Government has announced a 15-month traffic diversion starting November 11, 2024, at Mile 2 to facilitate the construction of a new Transport Interchange Terminal.
This diversion will affect Loop 1 on the Apapa-bound lane and Loop 4 on the Badagry-bound lane, and is expected to continue until February 16, 2026.
The announcement came from Lagos State Commissioner for Transportation, Oluwaseun Osiyemi, through his official X (formerly Twitter) account on Sunday.
The statement explained that the upcoming terminal will integrate multiple modes of transport, including rail, bus, water, and non-motorized options, to improve connectivity in the area and meet the city’s increasing transportation demands.
According to the commissioner, the project will begin on Monday, November 11, 2024, and will involve traffic diversions in the affected areas to allow for construction. He also stressed the importance of public cooperation in ensuring the success of the initiative.
The new terminal at Mile 2 is part of a larger plan by the Lagos Metropolitan Area Transport Authority (LAMATA) to enhance sustainable and efficient transport infrastructure across Lagos.
