The Lagos State Examinations Board, under the supervision of the Ministry of Basic and Secondary Education, has officially released the schedule for the 2025 Trade Test for artisans and technicians across the state.
According to a statement signed by Mr. Orunsolu Adebayo, Director/Registrar of the Board, the theory portion of the trade test will take place on October 18, 2025, while the practical assessment is set for October 21, 2025. The trade test is designed to assess the competence, proficiency, and technical skills of practitioners in various trades.
It will be open to artisans and technicians across different expertise levels. Mr. Adebayo explained that the assessments will span three grades—Grade III, Grade II, and Grade I—to accommodate participants at various levels of mastery. The Board further disclosed that the following locations have been designated as test centres: Government Technical College, Ikotun Government Technical College, Epe Skill Acquisition Centre, Egbeda Eligible trades to be assessed include: tailoring, electrical installation, carpentry & joinery, hairdressing, barbing, catering, shoemaking, and related technical trades. In urging participation, the Registrar encouraged eligible artisans and technicians to begin thorough preparations and to see the trade test as an opportunity for formal certification of their skills.
He also reaffirmed the Lagos State Government’s commitment to vocational and technical education as a key component of youth development and economic growth. The trade test is positioned as a strategic tool to enhance productivity, promote technical excellence, and boost employment in the state.
