The Kwara State Governor, AbdulRahman AbdulRazaq, on Monday presented a ₦644,004,816,893 appropriation bill for the 2026 fiscal year to the Kwara State House of Assembly.
Presenting the budget at the Assembly complex in Ilorin, the governor said ₦424.7 billion, representing 65.98 per cent of the total estimate, was earmarked for capital expenditure, while ₦219.3 billion, or 34.02 per cent, was allocated to recurrent spending.
AbdulRazaq explained that the structure of the 2026 budget underscored his administration’s commitment to completing ongoing projects and addressing areas of urgent public need across the state.
According to him, priority would be given to critical sectors such as infrastructure, education, healthcare, agriculture and social services, with the aim of consolidating earlier gains and stimulating sustainable economic growth.
The governor noted that the heavy allocation to capital projects was deliberate, as his government seeks to deepen development, create jobs and improve the standard of living of residents.
He assured lawmakers that the budget was prepared with fiscal discipline and realistic revenue projections, adding that transparency and accountability would continue to guide its implementation.
In his response, the Speaker of the Kwara State House of Assembly commended the governor for the timely presentation of the budget and assured that the House would give it speedy consideration in the interest of the people of the state.
