Kwankwaso is a man who is believed to have a rendezvous with the political future of Nigeria. Largely viewed as abrasive and a bit conceited, many are surprised to see a new Kwankwaso; quiet,loyal and focused.
The way Kwankwaso is diligently following the course of NDC and Peter Obi, it’s very clear that he has planned his way ahead of 2031. Whether their present ambition succeeds or not, Kwankwaso will be rest assured that he will be inheriting massive support from the South East region and considerable support from other parts of the South even before he starts his campaign proper.
That will be an inheritance from the proceeds of political investment that he is currently planting with Peter Obi. It is a long-term strategy, and every move appears to be pointing in that direction.
With that, outside Atiku Abubakar, who we are unsure will be contesting against Kwankwaso in 2031, he will be ahead of any other political actor that will be battling for the Presidency with Kwankwaso from the North.
The reason is simple. His biggest assignment will largely be to consolidate his support in the North while picking a formidable Vice Presidential candidate from the South to strengthen his chances.
As it stands today, Kwankwaso is the only person we can confidently say has a visible 2031 presidential ambition from the North. While many others are still focused on the immediate political battle, he appears to be looking far beyond it and positioning himself accordingly.
So, win or lose in 2027, Kwankwaso is still very much on course. Those who plan ahead often have an advantage over those who only focus on the next.
