KWAM 1, the Fuji singer whose real name is Wasiu Ayinde, has withdrawn his lawsuit against the ongoing selection of the next Awujale of Ijebuland.
He filed a notice to discontinue the case at the High Court in Ijebu-Ode, Ogun State, ending his effort to stop the installation of a new Awujale.
On December 16, KWAM 1 went to the Ogun State High Court to request an order to stop all steps toward choosing and installing a new monarch.
The lawsuit listed several government officials and traditional leaders as respondents, such as the Ogun State governor, the commissioner for local government and chieftaincy affairs, and the attorney general and commissioner for justice.
Others named in the suit include the secretary of the Ijebu-Ode local government, the chairman of the Awujale Interregnum Administrative Council, and the chairman of the Funsengbuwa ruling house.
In his application, the singer asked the court to pause the succession process until the main issues he raised were resolved.
But in a notice dated Monday, December 22, and filed by his legal team led by Wahab Shittu, KWAM 1 officially ended the lawsuit.
“Take notice that the Claimant/Applicant herein wholly discontinues the above suit against the Defendant/Respondent pursuant to Order 23 of the High Court of Ogun State (Civil Procedure) Rules 2024 and under the inherent jurisdiction of this Honourable Court,” the notice reads.
The singer explained that he filed the suit after receiving letters from the second respondent on December 2, 2025, but those letters have now been withdrawn.
“The Applicant respectfully prays that the Honourable Court record the discontinuance of this suit and make such orders as it deems fit,” the notice added.
By withdrawing the case, KWAM 1 has ended his controversial attempt to stop the succession process for the Awujale throne in Ijebu-Ode.
