Kebbi State Governor, Dr Nasir Idris, has approved the appointment of Muhammad Musa as the pioneer Provost of the newly established Kauran Gwandu College of Midwifery Science, Ambursa.
The appointment is part of the state government’s efforts to strengthen healthcare training and improve maternal and child health services across Kebbi State.
The development was contained in a letter signed by the Permanent Secretary of the Ministry of Higher Education, Dr Suwaiba Salihu, on Thursday and made available to journalists.
According to the letter, Musa’s appointment was made strictly on merit, in line with the administration’s commitment to professionalism and quality service delivery in the education and health sectors.
Salihu congratulated the new provost on what she described as a well-deserved appointment and urged him to justify the confidence reposed in him by ensuring effective leadership and academic excellence at the institution.
The Kauran Gwandu College of Midwifery Science, Ambursa, was recently established to address the shortage of skilled midwives in the state and to enhance maternal healthcare delivery, particularly in rural communities.
The government expressed optimism that the appointment of a pioneer provost would provide the needed foundation for the smooth take-off and long-term development of the college.
