The Katsina State Police Command has successfully foiled a bandit attack and rescued kidnap victims in the Unguwar Batsaka area of Jibia township.

According to a statement by the Katsina State Police Public Relations Officer, ASP Abubakar Sadiq Aliyu, a distress call was received by the Jibia Divisional Police Headquarters regarding an armed bandit attack on the community. The attackers, armed with dangerous weapons, were firing indiscriminately while attempting to abduct residents.

In response, the Divisional Police Officer (DPO) in Jibia quickly mobilized a team of police officers, along with military personnel, members of the Katsina State Community Watch Corps (KSCWC), and local vigilantes. They engaged the bandits in a fierce gunfight that lasted about an hour, eventually forcing the attackers to retreat with gunshot wounds.

The security team successfully rescued six kidnap victims, who were immediately taken to the hospital for medical treatment due to injuries sustained during the attack. Unfortunately, one of the victims, identified as Rabe Mai Shayi, succumbed to his injuries while receiving treatment.

Efforts are ongoing to apprehend the fleeing suspects, with further updates expected. The police also urged members of the public to report any suspicious activities to the nearest police station for prompt action.
