Police in Katsina State have successfully foiled an attempted mass abduction and rescued 11 victims following a late-night engagement with armed kidnappers, according to DSP Abubakar Sadiq-Aliyu. The incident occurred on the night of June 8, 2025, around 10:30 pm, during a routine patrol by a joint security team including the police, military, DSS, Operation Sharan Daji, Community Watch Corps, and vigilantes along the Danmusa Mara Dangeza village road in Danmusa Local Government Area.“ A gun battle ensued, leading to the successful rescue of all eleven victims,” nine females and two males, as the kidnappers fled.

DSP Sadiq noted that this operation marked a significant breakthrough in the state’s ongoing fight against kidnapping and banditry. The rescued individuals escaped unharmed, while the fleeing assailants remain at large as investigations continue. Katsina State Commissioner of Police, CP Bello Shehu, praised the operatives for their courage and reaffirmed the police command’s commitment working alongside other agencies to secure the state. He urged residents to support these efforts by promptly reporting suspicious activities to authorities.
