Governor Dikko Radda of Katsina State will commence a three-week medical leave starting August 18, 2025, as confirmed by a statement from the state’s Commissioner for Information and Culture, Dr. Bala Salisu-Zango, issued on August 14. During his absence, Deputy Governor Malam Faruk Lawal-Jobe will assume governance responsibilities to ensure continuity. Radda, who survived a car accident on July 20 along the Daura-Katsina highway, sustaining a minor fracture, emphasized the need to prioritize his health to serve effectively, expressing confidence in his deputy’s leadership.
The leave follows Radda’s recent recovery from the accident, which involved a collision with a Volkswagen Golf vehicle, injuring nine others but causing no fatalities. The Katsina State government has committed to covering medical expenses for all victims, who are being treated at the Federal Medical Centre in Daura. Radda, declared medically fit to resume duties on July 22, stated, “Taking this leave is essential to ensure I can continue serving Katsina with full strength.”
