2025 FIRE SAFETY WEEK: FEDERAL FIRE SERVICE IN CONJUNCTION WITH KANO POLICE COMMAND ORGANIZES TRAINING ON FIRE SAFETY AND FIREFIGHTING SKILLS FOR POWA MEMBERS
Today 30th October 2025, in commemoration of the 2025 Fire Safety Week, the Federal Fire Service, Kano Police Command in conjunction with the Kano State Police Command organized training on ‘Fire Safety and Firefighting Skills’ for 100 members of Police Officers Wives Association (POWA). The training was led by the State Controller, Engr. Kazeem Oyefola Sholadoye supported by other personnel from the Kano Command of the Federal Fire Service. The training is said to be timely considering the record of fire incidences during the last 24 months in Kano State.
Part of the speech of the Chairperson of Police Officers Wives Association (POWA), Hajia Hadiza Ibrahim Bakori reads “As wives, mothers and homemakers, we play a fundamental role in the safety of our families and the environment we live therefore, having the knowledge of how to prevent fire, how to react in cases of fire and how to use fire fighting equipments is crucial in safeguarding lives and properties in case of fire incidences. This training is not just a session it is an empowerment because what we learn here today, we will take home and educate our families and also our communities, so I crave the indulgence of everyone here today to listen closely, participate and take home something meaningful.”

I am honored to be part of this training initiative, organized by the Federal Fire Service, Kano Command, in conjunction with the Kano State Police Command. I would like to extend my heartfelt appreciation to the Federal Fire Service for their tireless efforts in promoting fire safety awareness and prevention in societies.
I congratulate the Federal Fire Service, Kano Command, on the successful launch of the 2025 Fire Safety Week. The training of 100 police officers and hoteliers was a significant milestone, and I am delighted to see the continuation of this initiative with today’s training for 100 members of the Police Officers Wives Association.
I commend the State Controller, Federal Fire Service, Kano Command, for his innovative approach to fire safety and prevention. Your dedication to building a safer community is truly commendable.
This training on Basic Fire Safety and Firefighting Skills is a valuable opportunity for our police officers’ wives to acquire life-saving skills and knowledge. I have no doubt that you will find this training informative and beneficial.
The Police Command also commends the leadership of POWA in the State for their commitment to the welfare and well-being of Police Officers Wives. As we move forward, I urge you all to take advantage of this training and apply the skills and knowledge acquired in your daily lives. Your role in promoting fire safety awareness in your communities cannot be overstated.
