Kano State Security Council has placed a ban on all forms of Durbar activities during the forthcoming Eid fitr Sallah celebrations in the state.

Speaking on behalf of the heads of security agencies in the state, Kano State Police Commissioner , Ibrahim  Adamu Bakori said the ban was designed to ensure peace and security across the state.

Flanked by the rest of the security chiefs during the briefing that took place at the Bompai Police Command on Friday – earlier today, March 28 – Bakori explained that
the decision followed credible intelligence which indicated plans by miscreants and their sponsors to use the Durbar as an excuse to undermine peace and public order in the State

The Commissioner urged worshippers to conduct their normal Eid prayers on Sallah day at designated Eid prayer grounds, adding that adequate security deployment has been concluded to ensure their safety.

He also enjoined worshippers to adhere to the following security tips, which included not to carry objects that might trigger suspicion or apprehension at the prayer grounds

Bakori also outlawed horse -riding, car-racing and reckless and dangerous driving due the festive period just as he enjoined parents and guardians to caution their children against being used by subversive elements to undermine peace in the state.

The 15th and 16th Emir of Kano, Aminu Ado Bayero and Muhammadu Sanusi are contesting the throne and have respectively made separate arrangements to host Durbar activities in the state during the forthcoming Sallah celebrations.
