In a major offensive against criminal elements, the Kano State Police Command has launched a massive security sweep across the state, resulting in the arrest of 345 suspects.
​The coordinated crackdown is part of an intensified effort by law enforcement to rid the ancient commercial city and its environs of urban crime, thuggery (daba), and drug-related offenses that have recently threatened the peace of residents.
​The high-powered operation, which spanned several volatile neighborhoods and known criminal hideouts, led to the recovery of various dangerous weapons, illicit substances, and suspected stolen property.
​According to police sources, the suspects were apprehended for a variety of offenses, including Armed Robbery and Mugging, by targeting innocent residents during late-night and early-morning hours.
Police also alluded to drug trafficking and possession; Distributing illicit substances, which authorities identify as a major driver for local violent crime.
​Speaking on the development, the Kano State Police Command reassured the public that the onslaught against criminals would be sustained until absolute sanity is restored to the state.
​”We will not fold our arms and allow miscreants to disrupt the peace of Kano. This crackdown is continuous, and we are taking the fight directly to their doorsteps,” the Command stated, while urging parents and guardians to keep a close eye on their wards.
​The police also expressed gratitude to the public for providing timely and actionable intelligence that led to the success of the raids.
​All 345 suspects are currently undergoing rigorous screening and profiling, after which they will be formally charged to court to face the full wrath of the law.
