The Independent National Electoral Commission (INEC) has described the just-concluded bye-election in the Dawakin Kudu/Warawa Federal Constituency as a highly peaceful and successful exercise.
​Ambassador Abdu Zango, the Kano State Resident Electoral Commissioner (REC), gave this assessment while reviewing the conduct of the election across the constituency’s polling units.
​Speaking to journalists following the exercise, Amb. Zango expressed satisfaction with the timely deployment of sensitive materials and personnel, noting that the voting process commenced on schedule without major technical or logistical issues.
​”The election has been entirely peaceful, hitch-free, and orderly,” Zango stated. “We commend the voters, polling officials, and all stakeholders for demonstrating a high level of civic responsibility and maturity throughout the day.”
​A key factor attributed to the smooth running of the poll was the coordinated strategy implemented by various security agencies. The visible and proactive presence of security personnel across both Dawakin Kudu and Warawa Local Government Areas effectively deterred potential disruptions, ensuring a safe environment for voters to exercise their franchise.
​With voting concluded, INEC officials have commenced the uploading and collation of results. Data from the INEC Result Viewing (IREV) portal indicated a steady influx of results from the constituency’s 446 polling units, moving the process swiftly toward the official declaration of a winner for the vacant House of Representatives seat.
​Amb. Zango reiterated the Commission’s commitment to delivering a transparent, credible, and verifiable conclusion to the electoral process, urging political parties and their supporters to maintain the peace as the final tallies are computed.
