Governor Abba Kabir Yusuf of Kano State has forwarded the names of two nominees to the Kano State House of Assembly for screening and confirmation as commissioners in his cabinet.

The nominees, whose identities were announced during Tuesday’s plenary session, were presented in a letter signed by the governor and read on the floor of the Assembly by the Speaker, Jibril Ismail Falgore.

According to the letter, Governor Yusuf urged the lawmakers to give the nominees speedy consideration to enable them contribute effectively to his administration’s ongoing reforms. He described the nominees as individuals with proven records of service, integrity and competence, assuring that their inclusion in the State Executive Council would strengthen governance.

The Speaker thereafter directed the Clerk of the Assembly to communicate the screening date, while calling on members of the relevant committees to prepare for the exercise.

Lawmakers across party lines welcomed the development, with some stressing the need for the Assembly to carry out due diligence in line with constitutional provisions.

If confirmed, the two nominees will join other commissioners in implementing the governor’s “Kano Renaissance Agenda,” which prioritises education, healthcare, infrastructure, and youth empowerment.
