The Deputy Speaker of the House of Representatives, Benjamin Kalu, has sympathized with victims of the fire incident at Ontisha Main Market in Anambra State.
Kalu, in a statement by his Special Assistant on Press Affairs, Udora Orizu, expressed relief that no life was lost in the incident.
Nevertheless, he charged the National Emergency Management Agency (NEMA) and other relevant agencies to immediately provide relief materials to victims to cushion the effects of the incident on them.
He also urged the relevant security agencies to swiftly investigate the incident to determine the cause and prevent future occurrences.
Kalu, who commended the Fire Service and individuals who made efforts in ensuring that the inferno was put off, urged the traders and residents to adhere to safety regulation and precautionary measures to prevent future occurrences.
