In a major tactical success, the Kaduna State Police Command has safely rescued 75 individuals, comprising men, women, and young children, who were abducted by heavily armed bandits from Folwaya Village, located near the Birnin Gwari Local Government Area.
The rescue operation took place early Friday morning following credible intelligence received by law enforcement agencies regarding the victims’ location.
Armed operatives intercepting the bandits engaged in a fierce gun duel before forcing the perpetrators to abandon their captives and flee into the surrounding forest with bullet wounds.
Kaduna State Police Command spokesperson, ASP Mansir Hassan, confirmed the successful intervention during a press briefing at the command headquarters on Friday afternoon.
”Our tactical teams, in joint operation with local vigilantes, acted swiftly upon receiving actionable intelligence about the abduction at Folwaya Village,” ASP Hassan stated. “Through strategic maneuvering and superior firepower, we successfully neutralised the threat and secured the unconditional release of all 75 victims without casualty among the hostages.”
All rescued victims are undergoing medical evaluation and debriefing at a state facility before being reunited with their families.
The Kaduna State Commissioner of Police commended the operational teams for their gallantry and reiterated the command’s unyielding commitment to flushing out criminal elements from the Birnin Gwari axis and across the state.
Security forces have mounted an aggressive search-and-rescue sweep across the forest corridors to track down the fleeing bandits.
