In a dramatic turn of events on Sunday, August 2, 2026, troops of the 34 Artillery Brigade operating under Operation UDO KA and the ongoing Operation EASTERN SANITY II, achieved a major breakthrough by locating and exhuming the remains of late Chief Ibe Anyadu of the Aggah Community.
​The operation was officially announced on Monday, August 3, 2026, by Lieutenant Colonel Olabisi Olalekan Ayeni, Acting Deputy Director of Army Public Relations for 82 Division.
​The major breakthrough didn’t happen by accident. Following recent intelligence-led operations targeting violent crime in the region which also led to the arrest of suspects involved in the killing of a soldier and the recovery of stolen service weapons, interrogators got a suspect to crack.
​During questioning, one of the arrested gang members spilled the beans, admitted to participating in the murder of Chief Anyadu, and voluntarily guided soldiers straight into the thick cover of Umudike Forest in Ohaji/Egbema Local Government Area to point out the shallow grave.
​The exhumation wasn’t just a tactical mission; it was a community effort. Conducted under the watchful eyes of representatives from both Aggah and Umudike communities, Local vigilante personnel from Ohaji/Egbema LGA, and The grieving family of Chief Anyadu.
​Equipped with an ambulance and coffin provided by the family, the late chief’s remains were respectfully handed over so he could finally receive a dignified burial according to local traditions.
​Major General Oluremi Ayobami Fadairo, Commander of Joint Task Force South-East (Operation UDO KA), extended his condolences to the family, assuring the residents of Aggah Community that every suspect involved will face the full weight of the law.
