Jigawa Marks 34 Years with Public Holiday Today

The Jigawa State Government has declared today, Wednesday, August 27, 2025, a work-free day to commemorate the state’s 34th anniversary since its creation on August 27, 1991, under General Ibrahim Babangida’s military administration, when it was carved out of the old Kano State.

In a statement issued by the State Head of Service, Muhammad Dagaceri, Governor Umar Namadi congratulated Jigawa residents and urged them to participate in statewide festivities, including cultural displays and communal prayers, to reflect on the state’s progress and pray for Nigeria’s unity and development.

The announcement, aimed at fostering community spirit, with Dagaceri emphasizing gratitude to Almighty Allah for the state’s blessings and peaceful coexistence.
