The Joint Admissions and Matriculations Board (JAMB) has accused 2025 UTME top scorer Chinedu Okeke of manipulating his identity and academic records to gain multiple admissions and exploit state quota allocations. According to JAMB’s Public Affairs Director Fabian Benjamin, Okeke initially registered under Lagos State origin in 2021, using his National Identification Number (NIN), and secured admission to study Medicine at the University of Nigeria, Nsukka. He then allegedly changed his recorded origin to Anambra State to sit the 2025 exam for Mechanical Engineering, a move described as an attempt to unfairly benefit twice.
JAMB dismissed claims of data errors from the National Identity Management Commission, stating unequivocally that any changes to precious records were made by Okeke himself before registering in 2025. The board flagged concerns over “identity manipulation” and an abrupt switch of course and state affiliation by a 400-level medical student. Pending final verification, JAMB has indicated it may notify the Medical and Dental Council to seek delisting should wrongdoing be confirmed.
The board said it will continue to uphold fairness and integrity in tertiary admissions, warning that abuse will not go unpunished.
