Today, July 28th, 2025, my bosom friends and colleagues in sport that passed on in the first half of 2025, will start their triumphant exit from the theatre of life on earth.
Having enjoyed the Grace of life that was freely gifted by the Creator of All Things, and being exalted amongst humans to the status of ‘Heroes’ in their particular field, they start their return journey Home to the Creator, befittingly.
Between 6:00 pm and 9:00 pm this evening, at the Auditorium as well as the ‘NIIA Sports Diplomacy Wall of Fame’ of the Nigerian Institute of International Affairs, 13/15 Kofi Abayomi St, Victoria Island, Lagos, ‘Chairman’ Christian Chukwu MFR, Charles Bassey MON, ‘Golden Gloves’ Obisia Nwakpa OLY, ‘Dodo Mayana’ Peter Rufai MON, and Moses Effiong MON, will be lifted up at a ‘Night of Tributes’. They will be accompanied with celestial music, tributes and prayers by a Minister, gospel singers, friends, fans, family members and Stakeholders in Sports around Lagos where they participated in most of their sport at national level.
Everything has been done to ensure a beautiful and solemn evening!
I was at the NIIA yesterday and took a few pictures of the ongoing decoration of the venues in preparation.
Invitation is open, but come early to get a seat and be comfortable.
