Troops of the 1 Brigade, Sector 2 Joint Task Force North West, Operation Fansan Yamma, have killed a notorious terrorist kingpin, Sani Rusu, and recovered arms and ammunition.
In a statement issued to newsmen on Monday – today, January 6 – Lieutenant Colonel Abubakar Abdullahi of the Joint Media Coordination Centre, Operation Fansan Yamma, said, “The troops conducted a fighting patrol to Bamamu Village in Tsafe LGA on January 4, 2025, where they encountered terrorists and successfully neutralized Sani Rusu.”
Also in a separate operation, troops ambushed terrorists at Kwanar Jollof in Shinkafi LGA, neutralizing several of them and recovering one AK-47 rifle, one G3 rifle, ammunition, magazines, and three motorcycles.
The statement further read: “Additionally, the Air Component of Operation Fansan Yamma carried out airstrikes on terrorist hideouts, targeting gatherings led by notorious terrorists Bello Turji and Ibrahim Chumo.
“Aerial surveillance revealed significant casualties and the destruction of the bandits’ hideouts
“Operation Fansan Yamma has reassured the public of its ongoing commitment to neutralizing terrorist threats and maintaining peace and security in the region.”
The Joint Task Force urged the community to continue supporting efforts to achieve lasting security.
