The Independent Corrupt Practices and Other Related Offences Commission (ICPC) has successfully tracked 29 constituency projects valued at N2,062,155,613.98 across key federal constituencies in Bauchi State.
The revelation was made on Thursday, August 20, 2026, during a stakeholder review session held at the ICPC Bauchi State Field Office Auditorium in Bauchi Metropolis.
The exercise forms part of the ongoing nationwide Constituency and Executive Projects Tracking Initiative (CEPTI), designed to ensure transparency, prevent public fund diversion, and force defaulting contractors back to project sites.
Speaking on behalf of the commission, the ICPC Resident Anti-Corruption Commissioner (RACC) for Bauchi State, Mr. Abubakar Dutsinma, along with the ICPC National Spokesperson, Demola Bakare, briefed press representatives and civil society organizations on the findings.
The Targeted Sectors includes Rural infrastructure, education, primary healthcare, agricultural empowerment, and water supply projects across the three senatorial districts of Bauchi State.
Substandard execution, project abandonment by contractors after receiving mobilization fees, delayed delivery, and inflation of project specifications.
Addressing the audience at the briefing, Mr. Abubakar Dutsinma stated;”Our objective with the CEPTI initiative is not strictly punitive; it is primarily aimed at ensuring that government funds yield value for ordinary citizens.
Tracking these 29 projects valued at over N2.06 billion has enabled us to identify critical gaps between contract awards and actual physical implementation.”
Demola Bakare, speaking on behalf of the central commission headquarters, emphasized that contractors and executing agencies found guilty of deliberate diversion will face prosecution:
”The commission will not hesitate to compel defaulting contractors back to site to complete abandoned projects to specification or initiate full asset recovery and legal prosecution where criminal intent is established.”
The ICPC reaffirmed its commitment to collaborating with local community groups, traditional rulers, and civil society partners under the CEPTI umbrella to monitor all active federal interventions in the state.
