In a major push to accelerate Akwa Ibom State’s industrialization, Governor Pastor Umo Eno has demanded clear execution timelines, concrete milestones, and actionable next steps from project partners to fast-track the long-anticipated Ibom Deep Sea Port.
​The Governor made the call during a high-level technical engagement and working session with the Africa Global Logistics (AGL) Group in Paris, France. The critical meeting focused on transitioning the landmark maritime project from decades of paperwork into immediate, visible execution.
​The high-profile session in Paris served as a rigorous review of the recently submitted Technical Feasibility Report prepared by engineering consultants Worley Parsons. Discussions centered heavily on defining critical pathways for international investment, project sustainability, and immediate implementation frameworks.
​Addressing the consortium of prospective partners and experts, Governor Eno emphasized that while the preparatory phases have been thorough, the time has come to establish a strict, time-bound roadmap.

​The Ibom Deep Sea Port is envisioned as a foundational pillar of Nigeria’s burgeoning Blue Economy. Armed with a natural draft capacity of 72 feet, making it potentially the deepest wharf in the country.
The port is strategically designed to serve as a major transshipment hub for the West African sub-region and actively decongest the existing, heavily burdened ports in Lagos.
​Both the Akwa Ibom State Government and its international partners used the Paris forum to reaffirm their shared commitment to the project, noting its unmatched potential to transform the state into the leading maritime, trade, and logistics corridor along the Gulf of Guinea.
​The Governor’s assertive push in Europe follows key foundational milestones achieved back home. The administration has already funded a comprehensive feasibility study, conducted critical geophysical and geotechnical surveys, established a dedicated project office, and commenced the construction of major access roads leading directly to the port site.
​Furthermore, the project enjoys active, non-partisan backing from the Federal Government under President Bola Tinubu, ensuring that regulatory pathways and national sovereign support remain secure.
