Chidi Odinkalu, a renowned human rights activist and former chairman of the national human rights commission recently reacted after the former governor of Kaduna State, Nasiru El-Rufai raised serious concerns over the attempt to arrest him at the airport. According to the statements which were shared on his official X handle, he pointed out that he never believed the former governor could complain about arrests.
The former governor of Kaduna State and ADC Chieftain, Nasiru El-Rufai was recently on the spotlight after an attempt was made by security operatives to apprehend and remand him at the Abuja airport.
It can be recalled that the former Kaduna governor, while returning from his trip to Egypt, was intercepted by security operatives, however, timely intervention by certain individuals prevented the arrest.
The incident, which sparked massive public attention, caught the attention of Chidi Odinkalu, a respected human rights lawyer and former chairman of the national human rights commission.
This came after the former governor raised serious concerns over the attempt, describing it as not only unconstitutional, but an attempt to undermine his integrity. He equally pointed accusing fingers at the national security adviser, Mallam Nuhu Ribadu.
According to the statements which were shared on his official X handle, Chidi Odinkalu pointed out that he never believed he would live to see the former governor complain about arrests.
