Hisbah Board has made a U-turn in its claim that Jigawa State Commissioner of Special Duties Auwal Sankara, was caught in an inappropriate behaviour with a married woman in an uncompleted building.
Retracting the statement which was widely reported in the social media, an official of the board, Malam Aliyu Dakata said Sankara was not involved in any immoral act.
The Jigawa State Governor has since suspended Sankara from office indefinitely, following the allegation..
It would be recalled that the commissioner was alleged to have had an immoral affair with Mrs Tasleem Baba Nabegu, thus portraying himself as irresponsible and unfit for the position he currently occupies.
Dakata clarified the situation in an interview, stating that Sankara was not involved in any immoral act.
“When we arrived at the scene, we found Tasleem in her car making a phone call, while Sankara was standing in the compound of a building under construction that belongs to him.
“There was no evidence of any illicit relationship,” Dakata said.
Sankara’s innocence was also affirmed by Rabiu Shuaibu, Tasleem’s lawyer, who said Tasleem has been separated from her husband for months due to domestic violence.
He said: “Tasleem has been separated from her husband for over 10 months and is running a business to support her children.
“On the day in question, she was delivering food to Sankara, who had placed an order, unaware that her husband was tracking her movements.”
Sankara had consistently denied the allegation, saying it was politically motivated.
“These allegations are entirely false and malicious. I have the utmost respect for the institution of marriage and would never engage in such behaviour.
“This is a deliberate attempt to tarnish my reputation,” he agonized.
