A week after a wild hippopotamus attacked and killed a fisherman at Yauri River bank in Yauri Local Government Area of Kebbi State, another fisherman, Alhaji Dan Ya’u from Tunga Dan Ya’u has been savagely attacked by the animal at the same Yauri River in Kebbi State.
Â
A resident, Alkasim Haruna Abarshi, told reporters that the fisherman was fishing in the river when he was attacked by the wild hippo without any provocation.
Â
Disclosing that the victim is in a very critical condition at Yauri General hospital following the brutal, unprovoked hippo attack, Abarshi said Honourable Abubakar Shuaibu Manager, Chairman of Yauri Local Government Area of Kebbi State, who visited the victim at the hospital sympathised with him and prayed for his quick recovery.
Â
He said the Chairman described the victim’s condition as critical and pledged to assist him in the best way he can.
Â
Meanwhile, the Chairman, Shuaibu Manager, has admonished fishermen in the area to take precautions by studying the river areas before embarking on their fishing business.
Â
It would be recalled that a nursing hippopotamus last week at the Yauri River bank attacked and killed a fisherman who was fishing in the river at the time.
