Gunmen kidnap two farmers in Ondo, demand N100m ransom

Gunmen have kidnapped two farmers at Parubber community in Ile-Oluji/Okeigbo Local Government Area of Ondo State, with the abductors demanding N100 million ransom for their release.

The victims were reportedly abducted while working on their farms on Monday and were taken into a nearby forest by the armed assailants.

The kidnappers later contacted the families of the victims, reportedly demanding N100 million and putting pressure on them to pay the ransom.

The Police Public Relations Officer in the state, DSP Jimoh Abayomi, confirmed that the command received a report of the abduction at the Oke-Igbo Divisional Headquarters. He said a joint security team comprising police operatives, the Anti-Kidnapping Squad, Amotekun personnel, local hunters and vigilantes had commenced a search-and-rescue operation.

Abayomi urged residents to remain calm and provide credible information that could assist the security agencies in rescuing the victims unhurt and apprehending those responsible for the abduction.
