The Plateau Association in the U.S. has called on the Federal Government and security agencies to end the killings in some parts of Plateau.

The National President of the Association Mr Bartholomew Shepkong, made the call in a statement on Saturday in Jos.

Reports say that on April 2, gunmen attacked Hurti, Josho, Daffo, and other communities in Manguna District of the locality.

Similarly, gunmen on Sunday attacked Zike and Kimakpa communities of Kwall District, Irigwe Chiefdom of Bassa.

In both incidents, the attackers killed scores and destroyed many houses and other properties.

Shepkong, who described the incidences as unfortunate, called on the security agencies to arrest the preparators and make them to face the full wrath of the law.

He particularly called on President Bola Tinubu to summon the political will and address the rising security challenges in Plateau and beyond.

“Security agencies should fulfill their constitutional mandate of protecting all Nigerians, by swiftly identifying, arresting, and prosecuting the perpetrators.

“We also demand that the perpetrators of these atrocities be publicly identified and held accountable.

“There can be no healing without justice and no future without truth; the blood of the innocent cries out for more than condemnation,”he said.

Shepkong, who said that the attacks were beyond farmer-herder conflicts, described it as organised violence, targeted at displacing the original owners of the land.

He advocated the assistance of traditional leaders, religious institutions, politicians, Civil Society Organisations (CSOs) and other stakeholders to be united in ending the circle of killings in the state.(NAN)
